Ladders & Lemonade Returns to Uptown!

On July 12, more than 55 Uptown neighbors gathered for our second annual Ladders & Lemonade family event. Once again, it was a wonderful afternoon of community fun!

From 3:30–5:00 p.m., three firefighters from St. Petersburg Fire Rescue Station 1 brought a fire truck from the main fire station for children and families to explore. Kids had the chance to climb inside the truck, take photos with the firefighters, and ask plenty of questions. It was especially fun to see that, just like last year, one young attendee arrived wearing a firefighter helmet—a different child than last year, but with the same excitement for the fire service! We also heard from quite a few little ones who said they hope to become firefighters when they grow up.
The firefighters shared that both Station 1 and Station 4 serve the Uptown neighborhood and that most of the calls they respond to here are medical emergencies. They also let us know that anyone interested in learning CPR can contact the Fire Rescue Outreach Department to find out about upcoming classes.

Neighbors enjoyed pink lemonade and ice pops, and the afternoon ended with smiles all around as the firefighters headed out with the truck's siren sounding.
As a small thank-you, the Uptown Neighborhood Association is delivering LMNT electrolyte sticks to Station 1 after the crew mentioned they're a current favorite around the firehouse.
A big thank-you to Station 1 for spending the afternoon with our neighborhood and helping make this event another success. We also appreciate everyone who came out to make it such a fun community gathering.

As always, Uptown memberships, neighborhood flags, T-shirts, and our new Uptown plaques are available for purchase at all Uptown family events. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next one!
Mark your calendars!
Our next Uptown family event will be Trick or Treat Around Round Lake at 5pm & Movie in the Park at 7pm on October 17. We hope to see you there!
