As a part of CONA's leadership program, the current class gets the opportunity to take a historic bus tour on one of St. Pete's trolleys.
We learned both historic and fun facts from St. Petersburg Museum of History's Executive Director. It was a blast! If you get the opportunity to take a historic tour, take it!
The fun fact we learned about our Historic Uptown neighborhood was about Round Lake. The mayor in 1912 wanted to utilize Round Lake as a tourist attraction using gators, like what they have in St. Augustine.
Fortunately, that didn't work out and Round Lake has become the way we now use it today. Can you imagine if that our lake had become a gator tourist attraction? Our neighborhood would be completely different!
